Lego Therapy

Dr. Dan Legoff has invented Lego Therapy, using Lego to help children with autism to become engaged in particular tasks and with other children. Dr. Legoff noted that none of the children liked any of the toys in his office except for lego. He noticed that often children would arrive at their appointments bearing Lego creations they had made whilst at home. Dr. Legoff also noted that children would start talking to each other about Lego whilst waiting for appointments in the waiting room, even the most shy of children.

After all these observations, Dr. Legoff created a Lego Club for children with autism. The Lego Club is a structured group where the children must obey a hierarchy. Children who have been in the club the longest and worked the hardest occupy the higher roles in the club. The children develop a project idea together and then execute the project in Lego, constructing something real out of their idea. The Lego Club is in Voorhees, in New Jersey, in the Center for Neurological and Neudevelopmental Health. The only Lego Club in the world, there is no reason why the same cannot be set up in the United Kingdom, all you need is a few Lego ninjago sets and some patience!
